First Look at the H&M X Kenzo collection.

Even though the collection will not be revealed until a month from now H&M and Kenzo has shared three of their looks with Vogue two days ago. The tiger stripes that figure in all of these images are based on archival prints. “Lots of customers only know the side of Kenzo we worked on,” said Leon by phone from Malibu, where he’s vacationing with his family. “But we’re [close to] celebrating the brand’s 50th anniversary [in a couple of years]. We’ve kept Kenzo Takada close to our hearts; he comes to all our shows. We want to do something that makes him feel proud.”

Takada arrived in the mid 60’s around the time Yves Saint Laurent was shaking up he old school haute couture scene. The Japanese-born designer presented his own version of streetwear, and made a point of putting on runway shows that reflected real life. Lim and Leon have recruited their own friends and people who inspire them to model for the collection. I am not surprised that Lim and Leon recruited their friends to model their collection, because they like to do things that are different from what other designers do which makes them stand out more. Im excited to see the full collection because I love out of the box looks. In my opinion it’s more exclusive when only a few people are wearing a collection of clothes that most of the public will not wear.
